This is definitely not for someone else to decide for you!
Not every couple opts for save the date cards, and that is absolutely fine. If you’re planning your wedding considerably in advance or are planning to get married in a far-flung location, we tend to recommend sending save the date cards because they can be a great way to give your guests the heads up with plenty of time still to go. This is especially handy if they are going to need to make sure they have passports or to iron out other mission-critical problems.
Especially when you consider that save the date cards are normally sent considerably in advance of your wedding. We recommend 6 to 12 months before - so the chances of you having those details all finalised are slim to none.
As a bare minimum, save the date cards need to include your date and your names. We’ve even worked with couples who have just provided a month rather than a specific day for their save the date cards!
It’s up to you how much detail to go into, but you definitely do not need to include all the nitty gritty details about your wedding. That’s what invitations are for!
